We live in unique times. As modernity sweeps across the globe bringing with it some real and imagined gifts and an apparently self-assured worldview, it is also raising profound existential questions. Traditional structures that have historically given humanity its sense of meaning and purpose for being alive are disintegrating before our eyes leaving in their wake for some people, a sense of uncertainty and confusion. What are we doing here? Where are we going? What is the meaning of the human experiment? These are all questions that sensitive individuals are asking today when it seems to many of us we are propelled into the future by forces that are out of our control, economically, socially and technologically.
It is in this context we might ask – where have we come to as a human race? What have we learnt collectively and to what extent are we pooling this knowledge in an ever-shrinking world to find out what our next steps into the future should be?
In India one is confronted sooner or later with the startling recognition that this is country that in spite of its ever-increasing modernisation and westernisation over the last 2-300 years, has in fact an entirely different worldview than the West.Its guiding principles have been only spiritual and ontological in nature, and this has manifested as centuries of grappling with questions related to the relationship between Man’s essential spiritual nature and the world of multiplicity we find ourselves in. However
more time we spend in India the more we are realizing we are also here for a larger purpose, which is to engage with India herself. recognizing the depth of spirituality that has always been the hallmark and soul of this great country, the unique qualities of this culture that has developed here as a result, and the spiritual giants that have blessed this land for millennia. In this context we feel we are here to meet as many people as we can who share a love of the Spirit and concern for humanity’s future; to deepen our own capacity for Spirit; and to find out how we can co-operate with others toward the upliftment of humanity as a whole. Centuries long grappling with spiirt but how can we find a language in 2013 because we have contend with the world as it is. What have leant as a species around the world? Being here we realize the East has an entirely different worldview than the West, which because of the dominance of the Western worldview is in danger of being lost, when in fact it has such an important message.
